Do I treat severely cloudy water differently?

It can be difficult to clear up severe cloudiness, that is why there is Simplicity Floc & Clear. Floc & Clear is an advanced pool water settling agent which clears cloudy water fast by coagulating floating debris and unfilterable material including dead algae and other debris that are too small for the filtration system to remove. Once the suspended particles settle on the bottom of the pool, the debris can be easily vacuumed to waste. Floc & Clear is also highly effective at removing the residual cloudiness that is often present after an algae treatment. The greater the debris, the faster it works. This product will not affect pH and works with all water sanitizing programs and filter types to make water clear and sparkling.

The filter is one of the most important pieces of equipment in a pool to help maintain clear water. A clean, properly functioning filter removes debris that can be seen, as well as some that cannot be seen. The vast majority of water problems are related to poor filtration and/or circulation. Before treating water quality problems with chemicals, be sure to check the operation and maintenance of the pump and filter. All the chemical products on the shelf won't help clear the water if the filter isn't able to remove dirt and debris from the pool.

Directions for use to treat cloudy water:

  1. SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE.
  2. Check filter and backwash or clean filter if necessary.
  3. Adjust pH to 7.5 - 8.0 for best results.
  4. Use Floc & Clear at a rate of 8 ounces per 10,000 gallons following label directions.
  5. VACUUM TO WASTE all settled debris with filter in WASTE or DRAIN mode.  Note: Settling may continue for several days if new debris is introduced by wind or rain. If so, vacuum to WASTE again. DO NOT VACUUM DEBRIS THROUGH FILTER.
  6. Backwash and chemically clean filter with Simplicity Filter and Cartridge Cleaner and resume normal filter cycle.
  7. Check pH and readjust if needed to 7.4 - 7.6.

NOTE: Floc & Clear should not be used if the pool cannot be vacuumed to waste.
